MADISON, Wis. – The day opened with girls semifinal action. Xavier advances to the championship with a 3-1 victory over the Sun Prairie Co-op. Scoring in the first period for Xavier was Maddy Jablonski (assists from Lauryn Hull and Tori Nelson) and Annika Horman (assists from Jablonski and Nelson). Sun Prairie got their only goal in the second period from Olivia Thompson (assist from Mackenzie Rosin and Mary Gross). The final goal of the game came in the second period from Morgan Treml (assist from Nelson) of Xavier. Saves for Jenna Jager of Sun Prairie 26 and for Hattie Berndt of Xavier 12.
The second girls semifinal has Hudson moving on to the championship by defeating the D.C. Everest Co-op 3-2 after 4 overtime periods. Scoring first for D.C. Everest in the first period was Eden Gruber (assist from Kiley Haynes). After an uneventful second period, Hudson scores two goals in a row in the third period, those coming from Mallory Thompson (assists from Quinn Winkoski and Dani Robson) and Winkoski (assist from Robson) respectively. D.C. Everest’s Trinity Foster is credited with the tying goal (assist from Dru Sabatke). The first three overtime periods were a back-and-forth battle with no victor being determined. It wasn’t until the 13th minute of the fourth overtime period when the puck was put in the net by Sydney Hendricks (assist from Bailee Dierks). Saves for Katrina Frederickson of D.C. Everest 41 and for Alayna Kunshier of Hudson 37.
In boys semifinal action, Unversity School of Milwaukee advances to the championship by shutting out Verona 5-0. Scoring didn’t start for USM until the second period. Tyler Herzberg (unassisted), Reid Woods (assist from Sterling Cooke), Robby Newton (assist from Herzberg) and Herzberg (assists from Robby Newton and Ethan Mann) get credited for these four goals. Ethan Ford (assist from Cooke) put one in the net in the 3rd period. Saves for Patrick Kelly of USM 25 and for Kaden Grant of Verona 13.
In the final boys semifinal game Neenah showed not mercy on the Waukesha North Co-op by defeating them 7-3 and advancing to championship day. Neenah scored twice in the first period. The first goal coming form Ethan Long (assists from Drew Sutton and Dillon Fox) and the second credited to Eric Alberts (assist from Cody Dias). Fox from Neenah scores in the opening minute of the second period (assists from Blade Chaney and Sutton). Thomas Knoke puts Waukesha on the board in the 6th minute of the second period (assists from Chad Larsen and Riley Cassada). Fox scores again in the 7th minute of the second period (assist from Mason Marquardt). Knoke puts two more goals in the net in the second period for Waukesha, giving him a hat-trick. One of his goals was unassisted and the other had assists from Trenton Tucker and Tyler Dale. Long puts the final goal of the second period in the net in the 14th minute (assists from Alberts and Luke Elkin). Two goals are scored in the third period by Neenah’s Elkin (unassisted) and Dias (assists from Long and Alberts). Saves for Garrett Larsen of Waukesha 27 and for Jake Mork of Neenah 13.
