Deadline to Announce Candidacy for Board of Control & Advisory Council Positions Approaches

DEADLINE TO ANNOUNCE CANDIDACY FOR BOARD OF CONTROL & ADVISORY COUNCIL POSITIONS

Administrators at WIAA member senior high schools are reminded that Feb. 23, 2021 is the deadline to announce their candidacy for positions on the Board of Control and High School Advisory Council.

District administrators, high school principals and assistants at these levels who are interested in becoming candidates in their district (Board of Control) or large/medium/small classification (High School Advisory Council) should state their intention via a letter to Kassie Mortimer ([email protected]) at the WIAA office.  Note:  Candidates must have (1) Department of Public Instruction licensure allowing placement in the eligible set, (2) must be employed full-time or part-time in a qualifying position and (3) cannot be members of the teachers' bargaining unit.

Primary ballots (if needed) will be mailed March 2 with a return date of March 23.  General election ballots will be mailed March 26 with a return date of April 16.  Results will be announced April 22 at the WIAA Annual Meeting.  Ballots will be mailed to the district administrator.

All positions are for a 3-year term beginning with the 2021-22 school year, unless otherwise noted.  Positions open for which candidates must file by February 23 are as follows:

 

BOARD OF CONTROL

District 2 (northeast) for position now held by Scott Winch of Stratford (not eligible for re-election).

District 5 (southwest) for position now held by Willy Chambers of Black Hawk (eligible for re-election).

District 6 (south central) for position now held by Bernie Nikolay of Cambridge. This position will be for a 1- year term due to the retirement of Mr. Nikolay at the end of the 2020-21 school year.

District 7 (southeast) for position now held by Phil Ertl of Wauwatosa.  This position will be for a 1-year term due to the retirement of Mr. Ertl at the end of the 2020-21 school year.

Gender Minority At-Large for position now held by Jennifer Vogler of Sturgeon Bay (eligible for re-election)

 

ADVISORY COUNCIL

Large schools for positions now held by Matt Hendrickson of Madison Memorial (eligible for re-election), and Roger Rindo of Oconomowoc (not eligible for re-election).

Medium schools for position now held by Jim Brewer of Clinton (eligible for re-election).

Small schools for positions now held by Cory Hinkel of Luck (eligible for re-election) and Cory Kulig of Eleva-Strum (eligible for re-election).

Gender At-Large for position now held by Cari Guden of Edgar (eligible for re-election).

Non-Public School At-Large for position now held by Ted Knutson of La Crosse (Aquinas) (eligible for re-election).
