WAUKESHA, Wis. – The State Girls Swimming and Diving Alternate Season Championships produced a team champion and champions in nine individual events and three relays Tuesday at the Waukesha South High School Natatorium.
Edgewood scored 350 points and won seven events to, in essence, win a sixth straight team championship, which also accounts for the Crusaders’ overall number. They captured Division 2 championships from 2015-19. Middleton finished second in the team standings with 286 points, and Sun Prairie placed third with a score of 233.
Four Edgewood swimmers won multiple events. Izzy Enz claimed a meet-high four titles, including two individual events and two relays. She swam to the championship in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:50.19 after a runner-up finish in Division 2 in 2019. She also paced the field in the 500 freestyle in a time of 4:56.19. Enz teamed with Abby Reid, Sophie Reid and Brynn Stacey to win the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:34. 57. The Crusaders also won the 200 relay in Division 2 from 2015-19. Enz also joined the quartet of Anna teDuits, Peyton Drexler and Stacey that won the 400 freestyle title with a time of 3:26.81. The Crusaders also won the 400 relay in Division 2 from 2016-19
Abby Reid won three titles for the Crusaders. In addition to her role on the 200 freestyle relay, she captured the title in the 50 freestyle in a time of 23.41 after a runner-up finish in the event at the 2019 Division 2 championships. She also won the 100 freestyle in a time of 50.34 after her runner-up finish in Division 2 in 2019.
Anna teDuits and Brynn Stacey were two-time winners for the Crusaders. In addition to her victory as a member of the 400 freestyle relay, teDuits raced to the crown in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.02 after placing third in Division 2 in 2019. Stacey was a member of the winning 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams.
Brigitta Neverman of Green Bay Southwest/West/Preble/East was a two-time victor. She won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:01.86 after finishing third in Division 1 in 2019, and she earned the gold medal in the 100 butterfly in a time of 54.87.
In the final individual event, Sydney Aird of Bay Port finished first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.48.
The Sun Prairie 200 medley relay consisting of Olivia Sala, Janelle Schulz, Grace Sala and Paige Rundahl captured the title in a time of 1:44.31. The Cardinals placed third in Division 1 in 2019.
Julie Rebek of Fond du Lac won the diving competition with a score of 476.65. Bailey Schroeder of Neenah finished second with a score of 468.55 after placing third in Division 1 in 2019.
