October is National High School Activities Month

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The month of October is designated National High School Activities Month, which is designed to promote and increase the public’s awareness of the benefits, values and needs of interscholastic activity programs.

The campaign is an opportunity to celebrate everyone who makes these interscholastic activities possible, including coaches, officials, administrators, parents, fans and members of the community. Each week is designated to highlight and salute the individuals who provide these life-enriching opportunities for student-athletes. 

National High School Activities Month Calendar
Sept. 29-Oct. 5:  National Coaches Appreciation Week
Oct. 6-12: National Officials Appreciation Week
Oct. 13-19:  National Sportsmanship, Fan Appreciation and Public Address Announcers Appreciation Week
Oct. 20-26:  National Community Service & Youth Awareness Week

The National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS) provides state associations and high schools with a tool kit that includes the the National High School Activities Month Booklet and The Case for High School Activities Booklet to promote the month-long campaign.

The WIAA, as defined by its Constitution, is a voluntary, private and nonprofit organization. The membership oversees interscholastic athletic programs for 514 senior high schools and 36 junior high/middle level schools in its membership.
