STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The 51st Annual State Gymnastics Championships concluded with the crowning of team and individual champions in four events and an all-around competition in two divisions Saturday. The Division 1 championships were held at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School, and the Division 2 championships were hosted by Onalaska High School at Performance Elite Gymnastics in La Crosse, Wis.

Whitefish Bay won the team championship in Division 2 for the fifth time in the last six seasons, and it’s the Blue Dukes’ membership-leading 11th championship overall. They compiled a score of 146.575, which sets a Division 2 record for the highest team score. Former defending champion Mount Horeb was second with a score of 144.025, and Nicolet was third at 142.400.

Senior Addie Gallun of Whitefish Bay won two individual events and the all-around in Division 2, tying her with Beth Weber of Whitefish Bay/Shorewood as the most decorated gymnasts in State Championships history with 10 titles in their career. She becomes just the third gymnast to win three State all-around championships in a career and only the second to win the uneven parallel bars all four years of competition.

She earned the all-around title with a score of 37.700, and she won the uneven bars with a score of 9.650, which set a Division 2 State Championships record in the event. Gallun also added her second consecutive championship on the vault with a score of 9.700, which set a Division 2 State record.

Junior Lorisa Shatrawka of River Valley/Barneveld regained the form she displayed in winning the balance beam title in 2019 to win the title this season with a score of 9.200.

Senior Autumn Tiede of River Falls won the gold medal in the floor exercise with a score of 9.550 after placing third in 2020 and 11th in 2019.

In Division 1, the Wilmot Union Co-op captured its first team title with a score of 145.800 after finishing runner-up last year. Arrowhead finished second, compiling a score of 143.375, Badger/Burlington was third with a tally of 141.825.

Individually in Division 1, senior Miranda Knabe of Menomonee Falls/Germantown won the all-around competition for the second consecutive year with a four-event score of 37.750. Junior Annie Murphy of Wilmot Union Co-op was second with a score of 37.425 after placing third last season. Knabe tied for the championship on the uneven parallel bars with senior Jadyn Pye of Wilmot Union Co-op. Each recorded a score of 9.50 on the apparatus. Knabe finished runner-up in the event last year, and Pye finished 11th a year ago.

Sophomore Isabella Bins of Hamilton and Kaylee LaFernier of Oconomowoc were co-championships in the vault competition with a score of 9.625. Bins also captured the crown on the balance beam with a score of 9.525.

Murphy won her second straight floor exercise championship, scoring of 9.575 on her routine. It’s the first back-to-back championship in the event in Division 1 since Jessica Krause of Arrowhead accomplished the feat in 2011-12.
