Sportsmanship Plus - Girls Basketball

Fox Valley Lutheran @ Wrightstown
Dec. 15, 2022

Fox Valley Lutheran Head Coach Dave Wenzel and his coaching staff, especially his longtime assistant, handle themselves with the utmost class on the sideline, with a wonderful demeanor. The way this coaching staff handles their players, coaches their team, and deals with issues with the officiating crew is first-class and top-notch. We, as officials, told Coach Wenzel and his staff exactly this during the latter part of their game against Wrightstown. Keep up the great work coach, many coaching staffs can learn a thing or two from the way you handle your bench, your players, and your fan base. Thanks for a great experience.

Sportsmanship Plus - Boys Basketball

Goodman/Pembine @ Florence
Dec. 9, 2022

This was a well-played rivalry game between Goodman/Pembine and Florence. The fans from both teams (students) cheered loudly and with good sportsmanship throughout the game. It was a pleasure to ref this game. Coaches were great. Students from both schools enthusiastically supported their school’s players positively. The band from Florence helped create a great atmosphere, and we were pleased that they played both schoos’ fight songs. A fun night for the officials.

Sportsmanship Plus - Boys Basketball

Northland Lutheran @ Wisconsin Valley Lutheran
Dec. 6, 2022

We had the privilege of officiating a varsity boys basketball game at Wisconsin Valley Lutheran High School. When we arrived, we were greeted at the front door by Seth the athletic director, who most graciously took us to the officials locker room area. He had water already waiting for us in the locker room. Right from the captains’ meeting, the players were very nice and respectful. During the game, the coaches, players and fans all displayed great sportsmanship. The fans cheered for their teams, the coaches coached their players and were very professional to us as officials. The players played hard and when a player happened to fall to the floor, the players from each team went over to help them up. The players spoke very respectfully to the officials when they had a question about a call or a situation. Overall, it was a great experience of high school sportsmanship on all levels, from the coaches, to the players to the fans. I would hope that this message gets passed along to the schools coaches, players and fans on how appreciative we as officials were to the great sportsmanship showed during this game.

Sportsmanship Plus - Girls Basketball

Elcho @ Goodman/Pembine
Dec. 5, 2022

This was a well played game with great sportsmanship from both games. The girls and coaches treated us with respect and kindness. After the game, the girls from Goodman/Pembine gave each of us a card thanking us for reffing the game. In our over 40 years of officiating this was the nicest thank you we ever received. We want to make sure that the girls got a proper thank you!
