The 32nd Annual WIAA Boys State Soccer Championships got off to a rainy, wet start. This year's tournament features a four-division format with only 4 schools qualifying in each division.
In the Division 4 semifinal games today, University School of Milwaukee defeated Sturgeon Bay in the inaugural Division 4 game by a score of 1-0 in two overtimes. Isaac Schlenker scored the only goal of the game at the 98:00 mark assisted by Jason Seter. Sturgeon Bay had a total of 11 shots on goal and University School 18 total shots. University School advances to the Division 4 championship game on Saturday at 10 a.m. Sturgeon Bay ends its season with a record of 18-7-1.
In the second game of the session, The Prairie School defeated Barron 2-0. The Prairie School had goals by Sam Hatem and Lucas Koenen both in the second half to lead the Hawks to the victory and a matchup with University School in the Division 4 championship game. Barron ended up with a total of 6 shots on goal and The Prairie School tallied 15 total shots on goal. Barron ends their season with a 16-4-3 record. The Prairie School advances to the championship game in their 6th trip to State.
