The WCCCA and Foot Locker will be holding their 38th annual coaches clinic on January 6 and 7, 2017 at the Embassy Suites in Brookfield (intersection of I-94 and Moorland Rd). Clinic starts at 12:00pm on Friday and 8:00am on Saturday. Featured speakers are Carrie Tollefson-elite distance runner, All-American, and Olympian, Arnie Meihe-Darlington(7 Division 3 boys titles in a row), Blair Schaper-Wisconsin Lutheran girls coach, and Elaine Gonya, Aurora Health.
The 26th class will be inducted into the WCCCA Hall of Fame on Friday, January 6, 2017 at a Dinner(5:45pm). Inductees include: Coach Bill DeVoe-Mauston, Coach Peter Arndt-Baraboo, Athlete Claire Maduza-Shorewood, Athlete Ashley Beutler-New Glarus/Monticello, Athlete Molly Seidel-University Lake School. Also, all Coach of the Year and Runner of the Year awards are presented at the dinner.
Also, for the10th year in a row, we are holding a winter clothing drive for the Waukesha County St. Vincent De Paul. We have sent a couple of truck loads of used clothes every year.
Bill Greiten(Gillett hs) and Bob Rymer(Menomonee Falls hs-retired) have been clinic directors since the beginning in 1979. The purpose or mission of the clinic has been for the improvement and promotion of cross country coaching in the state of Wisconsin. Over 200 coaches have attended the clinic each year and we are the only cross country coaches association(independent of track & field) in the nation.
