The first round of 2015 State Girls Golf Championships was completed at University Ridge in Madison Monday.
Last year's runner-up Arrowhead leads the Division 1 team standings through the first 18 holes with a 4-player score of 327, four strokes ahead of Middleton with 331 strokes. Milton, which led throughout much of the first round, is third at nine strokes behind at 336.
Both Mikayla Hauck of Monona Grove and Kate Martin of Mukwonago shot an even-par 72 to tie for the Division 1 individual lead after 18 holes. They enter play Tuesday with a three-stroke lead over Ashley Kulka of Beaver Dam and Loren Skibba of Middleton at 3-over-par 75.
In Division 2, The Prairie School shot a 345 to take a 16-stroke advantage over four-time defending champion Edgewood, which is second with a 361. Fox Valley Lutheran is third with a 368 after the first day of play.
Stanley Wang of St. Thomas More led the Division 2 field throughout the day and closed with a 4-over-par 76. She maintains a four-stroke lead over Bailey Schmidt of Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau, who shot an 80.
Play will resume tomorrow at University Ridge at 8 a.m. with the Division 1 second round. Division 2 play will begin at 8:50 a.m.
