An exciting finish highlighted day two of the 2015 State Girls Golf Championship at University Ridge in Madison Tuesday.
Middleton rallied late in the final round to overtake Arrowhead to capture the Division 1 team championship for the first time since its only other title in 2009. The Cardinals shot a four-player total of 641, edging Arrowhead by one stroke, The Warhawks scored a 642 to finish runner-up for the second straight season. Milton finished third with a score of 667.
Junior Ashley Kulka became Beaver Dam’s first-ever individual medalist with a 36-hole score of 146. She tied for the best second-day score with a 71 to move up from third place at the start of the day. Defending champion Loren Skibba of Middleton finished second with a score of 149.
The Prairie School held off four-time defending champion Edgewood to win the Division 2 team championship for the first time since its only other title in 2010. The Hawks scored a 713 and was atop the leaderboard the entire tournament. A late comeback attempt by the Crusaders in the final round fell four strokes short with a score of 717. Fox Valley Lutheran finished third with a score of 723.
Senior Stanley Wang of St. Thomas More held the lead throughout the tournament to win the Division 2 individual championship. She overcame some anxious moments in the middle of the final round to record a 156, one stroke better than Kayla Thielen of Marinette , who scored a 157. Bailey Schmidt of Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau was third with a score of 161.
