Neenah, Catholic Memorial Win State Girls Tennis Team Titles

MADISON, Wis. – A pair of teams captured championships at the 2021 State Girls Team Tennis Tournament at Nielsen Tennis Center Saturday.

Top-seeded Neenah (20-0) capped an undefeated season with a 4-3 victory over Divine Savior Holy Angels (22-3) in the Division 1 championship match. The Rockets’ Liz Risgaard won the #2 singles and at all three doubles matches to account for the final score. The trio of doubles’ victories were posted by Sophia Paape and Shelby Roth at #1, who won the doubles championship last week; Meghan Stielow and Nora Paape at #2; and Maddie Daharsh and Paige Stielow and #3.

Neenah wins the title after finishing runner-up at last spring’s alternate season. The Rockets won their second State title in their 19th State appearance. Their other team title came in 2015. The Dashers place runner-up in their 10th tourney appearance and for the second consecutive season. DSHA defeated Badger 6-1 in the quarterfinals and Franklin 4-3 in the semifinals to advance to the championship match.

Top-seeded Catholic Memorial (21-3) cruised to a 6-1 win over Regis (19-11) in the Division 2 title match to capture the team championship.  The Crusaders won three of the four singles matches, including victories by Jessica Jacobson at #1,
