The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association in partnership with PlayOn! Sports and FS Wisconsin will produce and air the 2013 State Girls Volleyball championship finals live Saturday, Nov. 9 from the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wis.
It is the first time girls volleyball will be aired live on over-the-air or on cable television. The finals of the tournament have aired on a tape-delayed basis on FS Wisconsin since 2005, and the State quarterfinals and semifinals have been streamed on foxsportswisconsin.com since 2009. The championship finals were added to the online digital programming in 2010.
“We’re excited to have the finals of the girls State Volleyball Tournament showcased in a way its never been before,” said WIAA Assistant Director Marcy Thurwachter. “The rule changes in volleyball over the last few years have resulted in a fast-paced game that spectators have embraced. It has really increased the fan interest and experience for one of the premier sports for girls.”
The State Girls Volleyball schedule has been altered slightly from its traditional times to accommodate the television programming. The start of each game will begin one hour earlier with the Division 4 title match beginning a 9 a.m., Division 3 at 11:30 a.m., Division 2 at 2 p.m. and Division 1 at 4:30 p.m.
