Dominican (24-3) never trailed in its path to making history, leading from tip to the final horn in a convincing 75-49 win over previously undefeated Mineral Point (27-1) in the Division 4 championship game.
The Knights become just the second program in WIAA boys basketball history to win four consecutive titles. Randolph accomplished the feat from 2002-05.
The Pointers stayed within striking distance of the Knights throughout the first half and trailed 35-28 at the half. Dominican scored the first nine points of the second half to build a 16-point advantage. Mineral Point would narrow the margin to 10 points later in the period, but could get no closer.
Diamond Stone led all scorers with 23 points and all rebounders with 15 boards. Jake Bennett added 13 points, and Garrison Goode and Austin Moutry each contributed 11. The Pointers were led by Sy Staver with 14 points, and Turner Poad chipped in with 10.
It’s Dominican’s sixth championship overall, which ranks second only to Randolph’s 10. Mineral Point finishes runner-up for the second time, also placing second in Class C in 1974.
