Hannah Belanger, a junior from Grafton, won the 2018 girls 3-Point Challenge held Saturday morning at the Resch Center in conjunction with the State Girls Basketball Tournament.
Belanger, representing Division 2, was one of 10 participants in the 3-Point Challenge, which was held for the fourth time. She scored 15 points in the final round to win the contest. Senior Brooke Hopkins of Tri-County was second with 14 points in the final round.
Belanger scored 15 points in the opening round and 16 in the semifinals. Hopkins opened with 18 points and followed with an 18 in the semifinals. Junior Mackenzie Correll and junior Laijanique Perry-Ellis of Milwaukee Washington also advanced to the semifinals. Correll tied a single-round record with 22 points in the first round followed by 13 points in the semifinals. Perry-Ellis converted 14 in the opening round to qualify for the semifinals where she compiled 10 points.
Other participants were Justice Filip of Madison East, Lexi Schmidtknecht of Cochrane-Fountain City, Cara Miller of Prairie Farm, Christine Fortune of Appleton West, Carley Elmhorst of Colby and Molly Schmitz of Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau.
