WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. – The Franklin/Muskego co-op won the Division 1 team title at the 2022 State Gymnastics Championships at Wisconsin Lincoln High School Saturday.
The Sabers won their first championship in this version of the co-op, compiling a score of 147.682. In a former co-op arrangement, The Franklin/Muskego/Oak Creek/Whitnall co-op won eight championships. Verona/Edgewood was runner-up with a score of 144.399. Arrowhead was third with a team total of 142.500.
Annika Rufenacht of Verona/Edgewood was the Division 1 all-around champion with a four-event score of 38.116. Maggie Pokorny of Homestead was runner-up with a score of 37.900 after she placed third a year ago. Alexa Harris of Madison West was the bronze medalist with a score of 37.483.
Rufenacht was also the champion in the vault with a score of 9.633. Kamryn McNally of Holmen was second in the event with a score of 9.567.
Pokorny captured the crown in the uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.617 after placing fifth in 2021. Clara Kenney of Hartford placed second with a 9.600 following an 11th-place finish last year and placing seventh in 2020.
Kenney won the gold medal in the balance beam competition with her score of 9.550 after she won the bronze medal in the event two seasons ago. Harris was second in the event with a score of 9.500.
Samara Ownby of Madison East/La Follette earned the floor exercise crown with her routine that scored a 9.433. Rufenacht was runner-up with a score of 9.400.
