Cedarblade Wins Girls 3-Point Challenge

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Sophie Cedarblade, a junior from Elk Mound, won the 2019 girls 3-Point Challenge held Saturday morning at the Resch Center in conjunction with the State Girls Basketball Tournament.

Cedarblade, representing Division 3, was one of 10 participants in the 3-Point Challenge, which was held for the fifth time. She scored 18 points in the final round to win the contest. Sophomore Maggie Craker of McDonell Catholic was second with 16 points in the final round.

Cedarblade scored 18 points in the opening round and 13 in the semifinals. She won a shoot-off with junior Mallory Lindsey of Mineral Point, who also scored 13 points in the semifinals, 3-1. Craker opened with 17 points and followed with an 22 in the semifinals, which tied the competition’s record for a single round. 

Lindsey advanced to the semifinals after scoring a 16 in the opening round. Natalie Cerrato of De Pere also advanced to the semifinals with a first-round score of 16 and proceeded to score eight points in the second round.

Other participants were junior Aaliyah McMillan of Chippewa Falls, Sarah Newcomer of Pewaukee, junior Maxine Paulowske of Kewaskum, freshman Abbie Aalsma of Waupun, senior Devin Wagner of Lancaster, and junior Remi Geiger of Loyal.
