Manitowoc Lutheran's Zastrow Wins 3-Point Challenge

MADISON, Wis. – Trey Zastrow, a junior from Manitowoc Lutheran, won the 2019 boys 3-Point Challenge held Saturday morning at the Resch Center in conjunction with the State Boys Basketball Tournament.

Zastow, representing Division 4, was one of 10 participants in the 3-Point Challenge, which was held for the fifth time. He scored five points in tie-breaker after scoring 17 in the final round to win the contest. Zastrow advanced to the semifinal in last years’ 3-Point Challenge.

Senior Austin Edwards of Phillips was second with four points in the tie-breaker after scoring 17 points in the final round.

Zastrow scored 19 points in the opening round and 22 in the semifinals. Edwards opened with 18 points and followed with a 19 in the semifinals. 

Senior Hunter Auchtung of Ripon advanced to the semifinals after scoring a 17 in the opening round. Senior Micah Kieselhorst of Luther Prep also advanced to the semifinals with a first-round score of 21 and proceeded to score 14 points in the second round.

Other participants were senior Ryan LaCerte of Wausau, senior Casey Kowalski of Mosinee, sophomore Nick Higley of Eleva-Strum, sophomore Will Dehn of De Pere, senior Jake Roberts of Randolph, and senior Adam Willoughby of Stevens Point.
