DIVISION 1

Muskego (16-4-2) upended top-seeded Waunakee 2-1 in the semifinals Friday to advance to the championship game Saturday.

Despite being outshot 16-7 in the game, including 10-2 in shots on goal, the Warriors made the most of their limited opportunities. Their only shot of the first half found the mark when Heather Blair scored with an assist from Mackenzie Balcerek at the 13:45 mark.

Muskego increased its lead to 2-0 at 61:51 in the second half on a Jackie Jares goal assisted by Blair.

Third-seeded Divine Savior Holy Angels (14-6-4) edged former defending champion and #2 seed Bay Port 1-0 in the second semifinal game played Friday afternoon.

The only score of the game came at the 34:22 point of the first half. Sonja Kuranz took a centering pass from Tyler Rose Ayudan and rocketed it into the net for the goal.

The shots were even at seven apiece with the Pirates possessing a slight advance in shots on goal at 5-3. Megan Nygaard made four saves for the Pirates and allowed the lone goal of the game. Ava Style led Bay Port on the attack with three shots, including one on goal.

The Dashers will play for their fifth State championship in their nine tourney appearances, and Bay Port’s quest for back-to-back titles was thwarted in its fifth State experience.

Both teams were limited in the scoring opportunities. Oostburg attempted eight shots in regulation, including four that were on goal, and St. Mary Catholic attempted just two shots through the first two periods, but neither required a save.
