The State Team Wrestling finals produced champions in each of the three division held Saturday at the UW Field House in Madison, Wis.

State Team Wrestling Tournament Preview

The 23rd Annual Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association State Team Wrestling Championships will take place Friday and Saturday, March 7-8. The tournament is held at the Field House on the University of Wisconsin campus in Madison, Wis. Ticket prices for the tourney are $8 per session.

Lantz Wins Fourth Wrestling Title

Senior Jens Lantz of Ellworth became the 13th wrestler in WIAA State Tournament history to win four individual championships in a career Saturday at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wis.

Lantz captured the crown in the 126-pound weight class by technical fall over Sage Soppa of Abbotsford/Colby with a score of 25-7. Lantz upped his record to 41-1 on the season.  He was the 120 champion last season, the 113 winner in 2012 and the 103 gold medalist in 2011.


State Individual Wrestling Preview

The 71st Annual Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Individual Wrestling Championship Tournament will be held Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 27-March 1, at the Kohl Center on the campus of the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis. 

Ticket prices per tournament session are $8 at the gate. Tickets are available on-line for $10 on the WIAA website up until the start of any respective session with the printing of the ticket by the purchaser. Tickets are also available at the Kohl Center during the tournament. 

Winter Sports to Begin

Boys and girls hockey, gymnastics, and boys basketball begin practice on Monday, November 11.  Boys swimming & dive, wrestling and girls basketball begin on Monday November 18.  All 10-12th graders must report to practice on time and once any athlete begins practice on with a school team, they cannot continue nonschool competition. 

NFHS 2013-14 Wrestling Rule Changes Announced

Effective with the 2013-14 season, forfeits in high school wrestling will no longer count toward a wrestler’s daily match limit. Currently, wrestlers are limited by rule to five matches in one day.  This change in Rule 1-4-2 was one of five rules changes made by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Wrestling Rules Committee at its April 8-10 meeting in Indianapolis. 

Team Wrestling Champions Crowned

Champions were crowned in three divisions at the State Team Wrestling Tournament at the UW Field House Saturday evening.
