Equipment Changes Highlights NFHS Softball Rule Revisions

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Two significant player equipment changes involving the wearing of head coverings and beads were among the rules revisions approved in high school softball for the upcoming 2022 season.https://www.nfhs.org/activities-sports/softball/

STEVENS POINT, WIS. – Ensure the safety of our upcoming sports seasons and help stop the spread of COVID-19 and other viral infections by continuing to wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your face, cover your sneeze and cough, disinfect commonly used surfaces and stay home if you are sick. For fall sports, all fully vaccinated, symptom-free individuals are exempt from quarantine.

 

 

Mel Dow Named to Associate Director Post at WIAA

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association announced the hiring of Mel Dow as an associate director for the association today. He will fill the position vacated by Deputy Director Wade Labecki, whose retirement becomes effective Sept. 1.

WIAA Special Election for Board of Control & Advisory Council Positions

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Administrators at WIAA member senior high schools are reminded that July 14th, 2021 is the deadline to announce their candidacy for positions on the Board of Control and High School Advisory Council.

Karyn Bye Enshrined Into National Hall of Fame

ORLANDO, Fla. – Karyn Bye Dietz was one of 12 individuals inducted into the 2020 National Federation of State High School Associations Hall of Fame during the induction ceremony held this evening at the NFHS Summer Meeting in Orlando, Fla. Accepting the award on her behalf was WIAA Assistant Director and fellow River Falls High School graduate, Kate Peterson Abiad. The Hall of Fame medallion was presented by WIAA Executive Director, Stephanie Hauser.

State Softball Tournament Preview

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The 45th Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association State Softball Tournament will take place Monday-Wednesday, June 6-8, at two venues in Green Bay, Wis.

Additional Track & Field Tickets Made Available for State Meet

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The WIAA, in consultation with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, has announced additional tickets will be made available for the remainder of the 2021 State Track & Field Championships at Veterans Memorial Complex in La Crosse, Wis.
